Wow, Cristina, that's similar to California. I don't know the right names for the govt positions, but certain representatives in our state get $150,000.00 per year to meet 10-12 times, and on top of it, they get a $450.00 per month car allowance. They said on the radio that most of them use it for stupidly expensive cars or horrendously ecologically unfriendly gas guzzling SUV's. There's only one conscientious person, a female, who has an electric hybrid car.

One would expect that if you're already earning $12,500 per month and are responsible for budgeting for an entire state, you should be able to afford your own d@mn car. If I was governor, that's the first perk that would be eliminated. Naturally, in trying to balance the state budget, Schwarzenegger appropriated money earmarked for our public schools rather than taking away this perk or lowering their outrageous saleries.
